This unit of competency can be used as part credit towards the
nationally certified course Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation.
What Content is covered in the Training?
Remote Area First Aid will help you to further develop your
career by enhancing skills in areas such as: Emergency
Response, First Aid and WH&S. Employers are seeking these
skills as part of their risk management procedures and policies.

Students will need to complete the 3 units of competency
as outlined below:
• HLTAID003 Provide First Aid
• SISOOPS305A Provide First Aid in a Remote
• SISXEMR201A Respond to an Emergency Situation
Who Can Undertake the Training?
To successfully complete our training we require students
to be competent in written and spoken English.

How is the course delivered?
An experienced and qualified trainer delivers the training
and assessment over 3 days. The course delivered
includes both theoretical and practical elements. The
practical elements are completed as scenarios throughout
the duration of the course. The delivery of training will
include individual scenarios, group scenarios, trainer
discussions and pre–course reading.
Days 1-2 are spent in the classroom and outside covering
the fundamentals of a first aid response. Day 3 is spent
mostly outside elaborating on long term patient care.
An assessment of your work will be undertaken to
determine your level of achievement of competency
against industry standards. Your trainer will work with you to assist you in achieving competency standards. The
assessment process will include a multiple-choice test,
practical demonstrations, observation and written
