Unfortunately the high freezing level on Sunday night meant Monday was not only windy but wet.
Mt Tate wasn't looking like much fun in the atrocious conditions even with a much improved snow cover. Having to push to get my skis to run down to the dam wall didn't improve my confidence in a good day out. Hiding behind the ridge up to Guthega trig kept us out of the worst of the wind but there was no joy in the wet snow and we were back at the car in a couple of hours and off to the pub for lunch.
It's not always blue sky and perfect snow but even the worst days are more than worth it.
